Write for Us

We publish work from writers outside the site, and we read every pitch that arrives.

Fashion Hot covers practical fashion for a UK audience — building a wardrobe, spending sensibly, caring for clothes, and working out what’s actually worth buying. If you can write about any of that with specifics rather than generalities, we’d like to hear from you.

What works here

The pieces that do best on this site answer a question a real person has asked. Some examples of the shape we’re looking for:

  • How a particular category of garment should fit, and how to tell when it doesn’t
  • Comparisons between two brands or two price points, with an honest verdict
  • Care and repair — what actually extends the life of a fabric
  • Dressing for a specific British situation: a wet commute, an office with no dress code, a winter wedding
  • Buying guides where the recommendation depends on the reader, and the piece says so

Personal experience helps. If you’ve spent two years wearing the same coat and can say what happened to it, that’s worth more than a summary of what the brand claims.

What doesn’t work

  • General trend round-ups that could run on any site in any year
  • Pieces built around a product you’re trying to sell
  • Anything that has already been published somewhere else
  • Copy written to hit a word count rather than to answer a question
  • Articles with no point of view — “some people prefer X, others prefer Y”, and nothing more

What we need from you

  • Length: 900 to 1,500 words. Longer is fine if the subject earns it.
  • Structure: clear subheadings, short paragraphs, and a conclusion that actually concludes.
  • Originality: unpublished, and not scheduled to appear anywhere else.
  • Images: welcome, but only if you own them or they’re properly licensed. We’ll source one if you don’t have any.
  • Links: up to two external links where they genuinely support a point. We remove links that don’t.
  • British English and UK pricing, since that’s who reads the site.

How to pitch

Email [email protected] with:

  • A two-line summary of the idea and who it’s for
  • The angle — what you’ll say that isn’t already obvious
  • A link to something you’ve written before, if you have one

A short pitch is better than a finished draft. It takes us a minute to tell you whether the angle fits, and that saves you writing something we can’t run.

We reply to pitches within a few working days. If you haven’t heard back within a week, assume it wasn’t a fit this time — we don’t have the capacity to explain every no, and we’d rather be quick than polite about it.

What happens if we accept it

We’ll edit for clarity, length and house style, and send you the edit before it goes live if anything substantial changed. You keep your name on it and a short bio at the end.

We don’t pay for contributed articles. What you get is a published piece on a site with a real readership, and your name on it.

Sponsored and partner content

We accept a small number of sponsored articles and partner placements each month, separately from the contributions above.

Sponsored pieces are held to the same editorial standard as everything else — they have to be useful to a reader on their own terms, not an advert with subheadings. Anything paid for is labelled as sponsored on the page, and outbound commercial links carry the appropriate attribution. We don’t publish undisclosed paid content, and we turn down placements that would mislead readers.

For rates and availability, email [email protected] with the URL you want to feature and a note on the angle you have in mind.
